Overripe Fruit Smoothie

We often have fruit that sits in the fruit bowl or in the fridge for weeks and slowly turns slightly brown, wrinkled or becomes bruised. Rather than chucking it away, I chuck it in a blender. This isn’t really a recipe because there’s no cooking involved. It’s so easy, it doesn’t need a method. Just cut up the fruit and whizz it up with juice, water or milk in a blender. You won’t be able to tell that it’s bruised or overripe in a smoothie. Here’s what I put in mine.

1 bruised overripe pear

1 slightly overripe banana

A handful of frozen mixed berries

A small glass of coconut water (because I wanted to be fancy)

Usually, when I’m not feeling fancy, I just blend with water or milk. Quick, easy and that’s 3 of your 5-a-day sorted.
